Melbourne International Film Festival Summer Screenings 2022

Soak up the summer vibes and mosey on down to Bunjil Place where over four consecutive evenings we will present a luxurious outdoor cinematic experience, with films expertly curated by the MIFF programming team. Accompanying the film program will be series of pre-film DJs and live performances as well sensational food and bev offerings to slip you into that lazy summer mood to enjoy the MIFF hand-picked films on the Bunjil Place Outdoor Screen.  

Showcasing innovative international and Australian films since 1952 MIFF is one of the world’s oldest films festivals alongside Cannes and the Berlinale. As a cultural icon, MIFF and has been instrumental in building Australia’s artistic international reputation as well as connectedness in Melbourne’s community through the passion and love for film. Presenting rare international treats as well as showcasing new budding Australian filmmakers, MIFF is a culturally rich and rewarding experience not to be missed. Bunjil Place warmly welcomes you to the outdoor cinematic experience of the MIFF Summer Screenings, 3 – 6 February 2022.

MIFF hosts one of the most highly regarded short-film competitions in both the Asia Pacific region and the Southern Hemisphere.​

Featuring 80 titles, this year’s MIFF Shorts program is spread across 10 packages and includes animation, documentary, experimental, and Australian and international fiction shorts, as well as a special program of short films about movement on screen.​ These are the Award Winners from the MIFF 2021 shorts program.

To celebrate Waitangi Day we will be presenting NZ indie hit Daffodils. ​

A box-office hit with a jukebox of tunes to match, this inventive musical romance stars Kiwi pop star Kimbra as Maisie, an indie singer who rushes to be by her ailing father.
