OUTDOOR SCREEN PROGRAM: SUMMER MOODS

Header Image: Paul Fletcher, Seeds OF Renewal (2021)

Films by Paul Fletcher

These 14 short films range from 2 to 7 minutes in length and were all mostly made this year, some late last Summer and into Autumn. Ironically many were made in the depths of cold winter with wishful thinking and conjuring up of just a little much needed warmth and summer energy. All films entirely created by artist animator and musician Paul Fletcher.

Forest Spirit
An other perspective whereby a long grass paddock in spring becomes a giant forest of bright colours and dense vegetation.

Sun and Moon Baking
Somewhere on earth at any one-time people are simultaneously soaking up the rays of the sun and bathing or sleeping under the light of the moon.

Flower Time  01:01:00
One of a series of digital animations tracing the cross-cultural timeless fascination with flower/mandala patterns.

View from Night Mountain
The night as a mountain you climb into sleep. The view of a city as seen from the top of mountain at night. Moonlight poking through mist and bouncing off fog forms moving forms and figures in the depths of the forested mountain. Creates a dialogue between clean almost primary colour rectangular grids and squares with messy grimy textures and scribble like squiggles. Ending with something a bit like a homage to the painter Paul Klee’s use of geometric abstraction and colours.

Lakeside Sunsets
Summer mood lakeside sunset.
Hot sultry evening by a cooling lake. Too hot to sleep so some in between state of waking and asleep takes over. Imaginings of life forms and processes floating on and moving around and under the surface of the lake.

Centuries of Ocean-Time
An Ocean of ripples and waves at differing depths and simultaneous time frames of thousands of years, compressed into three minutes of patterns and textures.

The Central Hub
The humming machines of specialised cells.

Seed Pod Dance
A biomorphic dance of geometric shapes and forms inspired by seed pods of trees and flowers.

Intercellular
Closer to home than interstellar, imagining cellular communication and interactions from tiny light emissions or biophotons, neural and other unknown networks and communication systems.

Swamp Treasures
An audiovisual swamp of  mystery and wonder.

Seeds of Renewal
Shifting our Focus, growing and caring for new forests of hope and natural abundance.

Heat
Summer heat radiating and diffusing.

The Ocean Forest
Inspired by the lost ancient kelp forests of the coast of Tasmania and digital rotoscoping of surf beaches in New Zealand. An abstract narrative of feature film pretensions condensed into just seven minutes. Imagined signals and transmissions from a lost underwater village.
