Join us at Bunjil Place for a floor talk highlighting the fashion items on display in Floribunda

Hosted by members of the NGV’s fashion curatorial and conservation teams, this discussion will focus on key fashion items from the NGV’s collection and the conservation techniques and processes required to get these extraordinary items ready for display.

About your guest speakers

Danielle Whitfield, Curator, Fashion and Textiles, National Gallery of Victoria
Danielle Whitfield is Curator of Fashion and Textiles at the NGV. Since joining the NGV she has curated numerous exhibitions and spoken and published widely on the history of Australian and international fashion. Recent projects include NGV Triennial (2023, 20),Melbourne Now (2023), Alexander McQueen, Mind, Mythos, Muse (2022) presented in partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto (2021) presented in partnership with the Palais Galliera; and Collecting Comme(2019).


Julia Spizzica, Senior Textiles Display Specialist, National Gallery of Victoria
Julia Spizzica is the Senior Textiles Display Specialist at the National Gallery of Victoria. Her job involves creating underpinnings for historical and contemporary garments in the collection for display and photography, ensuring they have the correct historical shape and are supported while on display. Julia has come from a background in theatre costume design and construction with a special interest in dress history. She has a BFA in Production Design from The University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts. Fashion exhibitions she has worked on at the NGV include Martin Grant (2025) and Kimono (2025).
