The City of Casey might just be home to the next Picasso if the entries in the Junior Bunjil Place Gallery competition are anything to go by.

We had a mix of traditional and abstract approaches to this competition (held at the Berwick Show at the weekend) and both the effort and the calibre were impressive.

In fact we’re pretty sure there are some future artists living among us… so look out.

Kids were asked to draw what they’d like to see on the Bunjil Place Theatre stage when the facility opens its doors later this year.

Of more than 150 entries from children of all ages, three worthy winners were chosen, landing themselves a $200 art prize pack each – so they can continue to explore their artistic skills.

The winners are …

Hayden Rojas, 11: For his wonderful creation depicting Dragon Dance

Maddison Board, 6: For her fun and colourful picture of her favourite characters from Frozen

Abi Sheils, 12: for her beautiful, detailed illustration of The Sound of Music.

Congratulations these budding artists who will be presented with their prizes by City of Casey Mayor Cr Sam Aziz at the Council meeting on Tuesday 7 March.

Maybe we’ll see an exhibition starring the works of these budding young artists hanging in the real Bunjil Place Gallery in the future!
