Join us in celebrating 50 years of Łowicz Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble, proudly preserving Polish culture through song and dance within Melbourne.
This special anniversary concert will journey through the ensemble's rich history and heritage, brought to life by colourful performances of song and dance from our senior and junior groups. Featuring guest performers from the Melbourne Polish Youth Choir, join us as we come together to honour this significant milestone with a joyful evening full of tradition, community spirit, and vibrant cultural expression that celebrates the enduring legacy of Łowicz.
Established in Melbourne in 1975, Łowicz Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble has dedicated 50 years to proudly promoting Polish folkloric culture through dance and song. Founded by Krystyna Straszynska with eight original members, Łowicz has grown into a vibrant ensemble that is active within both the Polish and wider communities, organising and performing at multicultural concerts, galas, and fundraising events.
In 2016, the ensemble proudly introduced its junior group, ‘Łowiczaki’. Comprising young dancers aged 5 to 12, Łowiczaki bring traditional folk dances to life with energy and enthusiasm, showcasing their Polish culture with their vibrant costumes and engaging choreography.
This year, in 2025, Łowicz celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of dedication to Polish cultural heritage in Australia. The heart of Łowicz lies in its members’ passion for Polish culture and the vision of its Artistic Directors, past and present. Under the current artistic direction of Natalia Szymanski, teaching the senior group, and Michal Harla, teaching the junior Łowiczaki, the ensemble continues to flourish, sharing the rich traditions of Polish folk music and dance with new generations across Melbourne.
Join us as we celebrate the history and legacy of Łowicz through dance and song at Bunjil Place on the 14th of September.
