As part of Open House Melbourne 2026, we are inviting our community to explore, connect and be inspired by the unique spaces that make up our Bunjil Place precinct.
The Bunjil Place Theatre will host a celebration of voice with performances spanning barbershop, acapella, gospel, pop and folk. We have an exciting line up of groups from across the south east and visitors are welcome to stay for one or enjoy them all. Bring your singing voices because there will be opportunities to join in throughout the day.

About our performers:
Keerthana Choir – Voices of Peace!
Keerthana Choir brings people together through the beauty of South Indian classical Carnatic music. Artistic Director, Uthra Vijay teaches the values and aesthetics of Carnatic music to her students while sharing the joy with wider community. Through the universal language of sound, the choir celebrates connections, harmony and unity among people.
Voices of Casey
The Voices of Casey is a vibrant community choir led by Musical Director Kerry Gerraty. Performing a diverse repertoire that spans pop classics to contemporary favourites, the choir brings people together through a shared love of music. With a focus on song, fun, and friendship, the choir welcomes singers of all abilities and celebrates the joy of singing as a community.
The Lyrebirds Community Choir
Based in the Eastern Dandenong Ranges, The Lyrebirds Community Choir is an inclusive, all-abilities choir with more than 40 members. Led by musician and composer Dalys Mithen (Hill), the choir performs at a wide range of community events, art installations, and film screenings. Their diverse repertoire features rich two- to five-part harmonies across multiple musical genres.
A Cappella Fellas
The A Cappella Fellas are a four-part male vocal harmony group located in Berwick, Victoria. Affiliated with the parent club, The Melbournaires Inc, they specialize primarily in barbershop harmony, blending that style with doo-wop, sea shanties, and modern pop chart favourites.
The Casey Choir
The Casey Choir is a ladies choir where the emphasis is on achieving excellence through having fun, lots of laughter, tea and coffee, and of course singing. Based in Berwick, and led by Musical Director Simon Loveless, the group is renowned for blending high-quality SSAA (Soprano, Soprano, Alto, Alto) vocal performances.
Melbourne Youth Chorale
Melbourne Youth Chorale is a local choral and social community, providing quality music education to children and young people of all backgrounds and abilities. Formerly Berwick Children's Choir and Berwick Youth Choir, MYC are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2026.
Heavy Choir
Founded in 2021 by Emily Stekly, Heavy Choir is Australia’s only dedicated heavy metal and rock community choir. Based in Melbourne’s inner south east, the inclusive, non-auditioned group unites over 30 adult metalheads of all abilities to perform soaring anthems, dramatic choral arrangements, and theatrical tributes to artists like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ghost, and Ozzy Osbourne.
Makepisi
Makepisi is a dynamic Melbourne-based, South African a cappella group that performs both contemporary and traditional African songs. Drawing inspiration from the iconic Ladysmith Black Mambazo, their performances are celebrated for their joyful, laid-back atmosphere and rich, authentic harmonies.
The Samoan Dandenong Methodist Church Choir
The Samoan Dandenong Methodist Church Choir is a passionate gospel choir united by faith and the rich traditions of Samoan culture. The choir brings together voices of all ages to share messages of hope, love, and unity through traditional Samoan hymns, contemporary gospel songs, and inspirational worship music.
