Béla Kovács “Hommage á Manuel M. De Falla”
Beethoven Piano Sonata no. 21 in C major, Op.53, "Waldstein"

Béla Bartók “Contrasts” Sz. 111, BB 116

A dynamic program featuring Alexander Waite - piano, Marisa Hatibi - violin and Belinda Bolger - clarinet.

Beethoven's Piano Sonata no. 21 in C major, Op.53,  known as the “Waldstein" is one of the most popular and technically demanding of Beethovens 32 piano sonatas. Presented by the outstanding Alexander Waite, with great passion and depth, it marks the transition in Beethovens career from early compositions to a great master of his craft.

Homage a M. De Falla utilises the Flamenco harmonies and rhythms of its namesake Manuel De Falla. A bight colourful work Kovac showcases a flamboyant rhapsodic romp through a delightfully Spanish flavoured affair.

Bartok's Contrasts for Clarinet Violin and Piano is a mesmerising work. A deep exploration of the instruments tonal colourings and rhythms, this 20th century gem is an deeply intriguing exploration of Bartok’s unique style. And his only chamber work to include a wind instrument.
