Through every weave, a journey.
From the bustling garment districts of Sri Lanka to the vibrant Indian diaspora communities of Melbourne, [Vastra.] traces the journey of a single garment that has dressed many for millennia. More than fabric, the sari is a living language – woven by the hands of master craftsmen of the past and present to evolve into a bond that shapes communities through storytelling.
Presented at Bunjil Place as part of the programs and events associated with The Offbeat Sari - a touring exhibition by the Design Museum, London. Now showing in the Bunjil Place Gallery, Tuesday to Sunday, until 30 August.
