Teachers and educators are invited to join watercolour artist Jennifer Mills for this artist-led professional learning workshop.
Known for her technical mastery of watercolour with which she intricately renders her subjects, Jennifer Mills approaches watercolour through the lens of drawing. Through both her extensive art practice and years of teaching drawing at RMIT, Jennifer has developed an approach to drawing that provides scaffolding for students and enables students to feel more confident.
During this two-hour workshop, Jennifer will share her approach to drawing, equipping teachers and educators with knowledge and skills to take back to the classroom. The workshop will include observational drawing activities, tips and tricks to approach drawing and the opportunity to see her exhibition, In the echo chamber, showing at Bunjil Place Gallery.
All materials provided. Suitable for primary and secondary school teachers and educators.
About Jennifer Mills:
Jennifer Mills is known for her technical mastery of watercolour with which she intricately renders her subjects.
Often basing her works on found photographic images, she uses oil pastel or scissors to conceal, cut out or remove characters or elements. The 'original' narrative of the complete image is disrupted and a new story unfolds.
This process of removing and subtracting elements in the image has been the core of her practice for nearly 30 years. She produces works exploring subjects such as childhood, cult television shows, costumes and disguise, and disability.
