Wednesday Night Workshop: Soap Carving

In 2026 Wednesday Night Workshops explore playful art making, opening up to experimentation and enjoying the act of creating. This month you are invited to join us to create a small soap-carved sculpture.
Using readily available every day materials such as paper clips and butter knives, you will spend time carving a block of soap to create your very own sculpture. Led by teaching artist Yaz Gaté, over the course of two hours you will learn a range of carving techniques and the subtractive sculptural approach to get you started with creating your sculpture. Affordable and easy to find materials and tools will be used so you can continue your workshop experience at home.
For those who want some extra guidance, there will be the option to use a template to create your sculpture, or you are also welcome to take a freestyle-approach to create an abstracted or figurative sculpture. As you carve away excess soap, your artwork will reveal itself to you. Enjoy the comfort of repetitive movement and create something special for yourself, or to give as a gift.
Accompanied by snacks, drinks and like-minded folks, this is your invitation to pause your everyday routine, participate in a hands-on, art-making workshop and join our little community of makers.
All materials provided. No experience necessary.
Enjoy snacks upon arrival. Suitable for ages 18+.
Who is Wednesday Night Workshop for?
Folks aged 18+ who enjoy being a bit creative and want to meet like-minded people. No previous art experience is required for these workshops, just a willingness to try something new!
About your teaching artist
