Join us for the launch of our quarterly late-night opening of Bunjil Place. Arts lovers rejoice in a new evening to experience the premier arts precinct in Melbourne's south-east.

Night MODE: Summer Edition, will feature a bespoke collectable artist-designed program and be a chance to catch our latest Gallery exhibition after hours. Tailored screen programs and King Canoe will provide enjoyment in the Plaza whilst you access the bar and outdoor café lounge. Adult art making sessions and art talks in the gallery complement outdoor workshops and activities.

Plus we have a dedicated chill out zone and plenty of places to grab a drink and soak up the art with your friends.

Kitiya Palaskas

Kitiya Palaskas



Kitiya Palaskas is an Australian craft-based designer and author with a multi-disciplinary practice. Kitiya specialises in prop and installation design, content creation, illustration, and creative workshop facilitation, focusing on using handmade techniques and traditional craft methods re-imagined in contemporary ways.



Kitiya’s work is characterised by its bold colours and playful themes and has spanned the retail, music, advertising and publishing industries. Kitiya is also the author of Piñata Party, a craft book published by Hardie Grant and available in Australia, the UK and the USA.



Kitiya is passionate about skill-sharing, advocating for more open dialogue around wellbeing issues for creatives, and forever hyping handmade culture, especially in this digital world we now live in.

King Canoe

King Canoe



King Canoe is the new project from eight stalwarts of the Melbourne Reggae and Soul music scene. Focusing on all-original instrumental reggae and taking influence from the 1960s Jamaican music scene, King Canoe is bringing a fresh sound to a classic genre.

King Canoe is Tom Martin - guitar ; Dan Marsh - organ, piano ; Ben Gillespie - trombone ; Lachlan Maclean - saxophone ; Rohan Sherlock - bass ; Steve Allingham - drums, percussion ; Rory McDougall - drums, percussion ;  "Soup" Campbell - production, live FX

Cuerpo Negro

Cuerpo Negro



Originally from Colombia but currently based in Melbourne, Cuerpo Negro has been a music lover and avid music collector for pretty much all his life.

His taste in music goes from House and Techno to tribal, folk, Ethnic, melodic and world music being especially passionate about deep, organic and percussive sounds.

His DJ sets are normally a fusion between downtempo, andes step, world electronica, house, afrotech, prog techno and and anything in between focusing in progression, exploration and experimentation.

David Rosetzky

David Rosetzky is a Melbourne based artist and educator with an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to art making. Often working with practitioners from the fields of theatre, dance, and film – he creates videos, installations and photographic works in which identity is intimately observed. With an extensive exhibition history both in Australia and overseas, he has presented his work in over 30 solo exhibitions and 60 group exhibitions. Rosetzky’s ‘Portrait of Cate Blanchett‘ (2008) commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, was exhibited in The Third ICP Triennial of Photography and Video at the International Centre for Photography in New York. Rosetzky’s recent projects include Being Ourselves (2020) at Monash Gallery of Art, Melbourne commissioned as part of Portrait of Monash: the ties that bind, and Composite Acts (2019-21) commissioned by Channels International Biennial of Video Art and part of PHOTO 2021 International Festival of Photography, Melbourne. In 2014 the Centre for Contemporary Photography curated the survey exhibition True Self: David Rosetzky Selected works, which toured public galleries Nationally. His works are held in numerous collections including The National Gallery of Victoria, The National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Art Gallery of South Australia, Art Gallery of Western Australia, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, and Monash Gallery of Art. David has a PhD in Visual Art from Monash University and currently teaches at Photography Studies College and in the Master of Photography program at RMIT University.

  • 8.00 pm – 8.45 pm: Live music from King Canoe (Plaza) 
  • 7.00 pm – 8.00 pm: Curated content on the outdoor screen (Plaza) 

Gallery, outdoor café lounge, and bar open until 9.00 pm. Drinks and snacks at menu prices.
